The best Yext alternatives for small local businesses

Yext pushes your business details to more than 200 publishers. For a big brand that's worth a lot. For a business with one to ten locations, the yearly bill and the worry about what happens after you cancel are hard to justify. Here's what else to look at.

Quick answer

For listings with monthly billing, look at Synup, BrightLocal or Moz Local. For listings plus an AI agent for your Business Profile, Semrush Local. If what you really need is a website with service and city pages, LocalBiz (that's us) builds it and writes them.

We make LocalBiz, so we list it first and label it. The others are ranked by how well they fit a local service business.

Why people look beyond Yext

  • Billed yearly. Yext's self-serve plans for one location run $199 to $999 a year, and its plans page says all plans last 12 months.
  • No public pricing page. Yext's main pricing address returns a 404. Bigger accounts go through a demo and a quote.
  • Listings can revert after you cancel. Yext says it doesn't force listings back, but each publisher's own data takes over again. In a Whitespark audit of 60 listings after expiry, about 35% went back to wrong details and 25% disappeared. It was a small sample.
  • Built for big brands. Its knowledge graph, API and developer tools are made for teams running many locations.

To be fair to Yext: it sends your details straight to more than 200 publishers with no aggregator in between, and it was early to track how brands show up in AI search.

Questions

What happens to my listings if I cancel Yext?

Is there a monthly alternative to Yext?

Yes. Synup, BrightLocal, Moz Local and Semrush Local all bill monthly. Moz Local only covers the US, UK and Canada.

Does LocalBiz manage listings?

No. LocalBiz builds your website and writes its pages and posts. Use a listings tool alongside it if you need one.
